settling into its new digs tonight. the 12-mile journey through the streets of los angeles at times hazardous to its new home at the california science center took most of the weekend zigzagging their way through tight corridors and under hundreds of power lines by many trees. arriving 16 hours late, but endeavour didn't suffer a scratch. its final mission accomplished. >>> and another space mission accomplished. an austiran man plunged 24 miles up. breaking the record for the highest free fall and the sound barrier in the process. he says that he hopes to train the next daredevil to break his record. >>> it's that time of the year again. male deer are out looking for mates. apparently they're not paying attention to much else. cbs5 reporter on the unusual places where bucks are in a rut. >> reporter: it is deer mating season and bad things can happen on the hunt for romance. >> looking for love and getting in trouble. shuttle endeavour's travel through los angeles streets has slowed from a crawl to a dead stop. it's now six hours behind schedule on its route to its final home. this is a live look at its stop in its tracks. problems include small issues with the transporter that needed fixing, and crowds that are growing larger and getting in the way. we look at the intricate maneuvering to get it to its final resting place. >> feel like a kid in a candy store. >> i want to see it going down the middle of the city street in los angeles. >> reporter: as soon as the shuttle endeavour appeared along neighborhood streets, the excitement erupted. >> it's really awesome, and i'm kind of, like, oh my god! >> right there! the wing is so close, the authorities were actually pushing back onlookers who were trying to reach out and touch it. >> reporter: you can see balconies filled with people reaching out. but while the closest may be thrilling for these onlookers, it also presented challenges. the shuttles wing got stuck behind this tree and needed to do a reverse maneuver to go around it. minutes before t

the capital punishment with life in prison without parole. the ufc los angeles times poll shows that 38% of the voters favored getting rid of the death penalty while 51% want to keep it. however that gap narrows when the voters find out that prop 34 also requires the convicted killers to work in prison and give their earnings to their victim's family. cbs5 talked to the supporters and the opponents of the measures. >>> right now, they are sitting in the cells, watching tv, talking to their lawyers. prop 34 will put an end to that and puts them to work. and it is no longer the death row inmates. sentencing them to life in prison without the possibility of parole. it also requires every person convicted of murder to work in prisons and pay restitutions to the victim's families. the representatives from both sides, they spoke on cbs5 eyewitness news this morning. >> i think when i read the cases of the people that will be on death row that it will be stunning in the evil that we're looking at. >> reporter: he is the district attorney for san mateo county, pro death penalty antiprop 31.
